Delegate Election Overview

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters’ International Officer Elections are occurring in 2016.

The process can be divided into three stages:

(1) Delegate Election. During January through April 2016, Local Unions across the country will hold democratic elections to pick men and women from their membership to serve as delegates. These delegates will attend the International Convention.

(2) International Convention. The 29th International Convention of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters will be held in Las Vegas in June 2016. At the convention, delegates will vote to nominate candidates for international office.

(3) International Officer Election. If more than one candidate is nominated for international office, all members will vote to elect a candidate to fill the office. Voting will open in October 2016 with ballots counted and results announced in November 2016.
